Length:                 Painted Post Trail; 1.2 miles

Difficulty:             Easy. Flat paved rail trail.

Directions:

From I-86/Route 17 take exit 44B to S Hamilton St and head north. Turn left on W High St and follow to Steuben St. Right will bring you to the Painted Post Depot parking lot. Head left then right along W High St for 0.3 miles. Turn right on Maple Ave, then right into Craig Park.

The Painted Post Trail follows the rail bed of the former Delaware, Lackawanna & Western RR. It travels East from Craig Park to I-86.

Starting from Craig Park [Western End]; From the front of the park building, the narrow paved Painted Post Trail travels East past the pool, Dog park and sports courts before widening as it travels through a tunnel underneath Victory Hwy. A second tunnel on your right leads to W High St, continue straight past the old 1915 Painted Post Depot (now a museum) and parking lot before crossing Steuben St at 0.3 miles. The open, residential trail continues past an old cemetery, crossing N Hamilton St and Stanton St before passing by Edward Hanshaw Memorial Park at 0.9 miles. Cross Charles St where you next cross a bridge over Cutter Creek. Look right to spot a RR bridge down stream. Pass through another tunnel underneath I-86 and you'll come to Cutler Ave & Western Lane at 1.2 miles and the end of the trail.
