Heading North, across W Main St, the crushed recycled asphalt Erie Cattaraugus Rail Trail; "Pop Warner Rail Trail" passes by the former 1910 Springfield Depot following an industrial/residential corridor. Cross Franklin St, Caution; No Cross-walk and pass by an old cement RR Whistle Post on your right. + See; RR Whistle Post Below. Cross N Central Ave at 0.5 miles. I haven't checked out this next section. Cross North St at 0.9 miles as you enter East Concord. The Erie Cattaraugus Rail Trail continues North, crossing Buffalo Rd, where the surface is hard packed dirt & grass. Pass by Springville Trout Pond.
Note; In 2023, access to this pond will be constructed along with a Bike Rack and information kiosk.
Next you'll cross Sharp Rd (Caution, No Crosswalk) before crossing a bridge over a brook. Cross Middle Rd and travel along a causeway through the Spring Brook Marsh. Next cross Genesee Rd before coming to Sibley Rd in East Concord after about 4+ miles from W Main Street in Springville. Past here the trail has not been developed.

Northern Section:
Starting from Ellicott Road in the West Falls hamlet of Aurora [Southern End]; I haven't checked out these sections.
Heading Northwest; The hard packed dirt & grass Erie Cattaraugus Rail Trail travels through the woods, crossing Jewett Holmwood Rd in Orchard Park at 2.2 miles. Caution, No crosswalk.
Note; If you travel right, East, on-road (wide shoulder) a very short distance, you'll come to a trail on your left, that heads North, into BIRDSONG PARKLANDS . Here you'll find several Loop Trails.
The trail then continues as crushed gravel, traveling between woods & the Orchard Park golf course. Cross an old RR bridge over S Buffalo St. This brings you to the old B&O Orchard Park RR Depot after 3.2 miles. Some old RR tracks and B&O RR cars.
Heading Southeast; The crushed gravel Erie Cattaraugus Rail Trail travels through the woods to Old Glenwood Rd in the Jewettville hamlet of Aurora after 1 mile. The trail continues South, as hard packed dirt & grass.
Old Railroad Equipment:
+
RR Whistle Post:
The Whistle Post,
was a post with a large "W" engraved or painted on it. This
meant the railroad engineers were to start sounding the trains Whistle.
The Whistle posts
were usually placed 0.25 miles
in advance of a road crossing,
bridges, tunnels and other points. Usually, there would be a post placed on both
sides of the crossing, covering both directions.
